Paul Russinoff has been fascinated by history and antiques for as long as he can remember. His interest was heightened in 1975, when at age 10, and living with his family in suburban Detroit, Mich., his mother bought him a box of lead Civil War soldiers. Soon after, he purchased a tintype of a Union soldier with a name scribbled on the back. “I was hooked,” he recalled.
